Information about our Club
The Thomas Creek Figure Skating Club was established in 1989 to promote the enjoyment of figure skating, provide quality practice ice, and to encourage camaraderie among figure skaters in the Fairport, NY area. The club is a member of the United States Figure Skating Association and the Ice Skating Institute. We welcome skaters of all ages who have completed level 8 of USFSA basic skills or have equivalent skills. The club offers and supports all disciplines of figure skating; Freestyle, Moves, Ice Dance and Synchronized Team Skating. Several levels of membership are available from Full to Associate. All members must also maintain current USFSA membership through the TCFSC or another club organization.

Evie Gaffney:has been a skater all her life. Evie has spent the greater part of her time on the ice performing and choreographing in the USA and Europe. Her performing career culminated in a three year assignment with Shipstead and Johnson’s “Ice Follies” as a precision and comedy skater. She has devoted the last twenty-six years to teaching skating and the last fourteen at Thomas Creek Ice Arena. Beth Avery Rothberg: is starting her 7th year on the coaching staff at Thomas Creek. She is a USFSA International Test ice dancer, Intermediate freestylist and has passed the second school figures test. Beth’s competitive career includes participation in the Empire State Games as well as various regional competitions and shows. As an active collegiate skater, she founded the SUNY Figure Skating Club at Oswego. Beth continues her professional development as a figure skating instructor. She is a member of the Professional Skater's Association, passing their basic written exam and registered Sports Science exam. Beth is a graduate of SUNY Brockport with a Master’s Degree in Elementary Education. She was recently named Teacher of the Year by the Wal-Mart/Sam's Club Foundation for her work as a middle school teacher in Greece, NY. Beth is available for private lessons in freestyle, ice dancing, moves in the field, and figures. Cheryl Trelly: has been a member of Thomas Creek since 2002 where she coaches Learn to Skate along with sharing her passion for Ice Dancing in the skating club. She grew up in Perth, Ontario, Canada where she started skating at the age of four. Cheryl has been coaching for over 17 years, specializing in Ice Dance. She has received her Canadian Figure Skating Association Gold Medal for Ice Dance. She is a member of the USFSA, PSA and is a certified Bronze Judge for ISI. Cheryl teaches Ice Dance, Moves in the Field and Freestyle. Pam Bossar-Warren: started skating when she was 4 years old. By age 14, she was a Gold Medalist in figures and freestyle. Pamela also is a Silver Medalist in Dance. Pamela competed in Freestyle and Figures competitions throughout the northeast. For the past 20 years, Pamela has been a successful skating instructor who gains immense satisfaction from introducing young skaters to the joys of figure skating, and teaching them new skills. Her students have competed in numerous local and regional skating competitions as well as the Empire State Games, sectional and nationals. She holds Master Ratings in Figures and Freestyle and a Registered Rating for Moves in the Field from the Professional Skating Association. Pamela has taught Basic Skills at the Rochester Institute of Technology, is currently on the professional staff of the Genesee Figure Skating Club in Rochester, the Thomas Creek Figure Skating Club in Fairport, and teaches figure skating for the Finger Lakes Community College. Always striving to develop skaters to their fullest potential both on and off the ice, Pamela frequently arranges special seminars with visiting professionals. Recent seminars have features Brian Orser, Olympic silver medalist; Tom Litz, US National champion; Mary Emes, Canadian Gold medalist; George A. Valle, PSA, Senior Coach; and Gayle Davis, internationally recognized sports psychologist. Pamela is a member of the U.S. Figure Skating Association, the Professional Skating Association. She is on the staff of the Miracles on Ice Summer Skating School at Lake Placid, working closely with the Litz Team. Ali McElligott: has been teaching skating for the past six years. This will be her fourth season with the TCFSC. She is a native of Rochester and started with our club as a member herself in 1990. She is a member of PSA. Ali has participated in the Junior Olympics and won a silver medal in the State Games of America and has trained under American and Canadian Olympic, World and National coaches. She has achieved Senior MITF level, Junior Freestyle and Silver Dance. Ali is available to coach Freestyle and Moves in the Field. She can also choreograph and teach basic skills.Words of Wisdom“Practice like it’s competition, Compete like it’s practice. And always, always have fun with skating” Jessie Stratton: A recent graduate of SUNY Geneseo with a Bachelor of Arts, Jessica Stratton is an accomplished figure skater and dancer. She has obtained her Gold Medal in Moves in the Field and a Silver Medal in Freestyle. She is actively pursuing her Gold Dances and Gold Freestyle. Jessica has been skating for fifteen years both competitively and recreationally.
